  1. Shoulder Width

    • How to measure: Measure across the top of your shoulders, from one shoulder seam to the other.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement helps ensure that the garment sits properly on your shoulders, especially for tops, jackets, or dresses, avoiding tight or loose fits at the shoulder area.

  2. Shoulder Seam

    • How to measure: Measure from the point where your shoulder meets the neck (nape) to the shoulder seam (where the sleeve meets the body).

    • Why it’s important: This measurement ensures proper fit across the shoulders and helps garments such as blouses, dresses, and shirts drape correctly, preventing the sleeves from being misplaced.

  3. Bust (Chest)

    • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape comfortably snug but not tight.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement ensures that the garment fits properly around your chest, preventing tightness or looseness in tops, dresses, and blouses.

  4. Underbust

    • How to measure: Measure just below your bust, around the ribcage area.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is necessary for garments like bras, corsets, and structured tops to ensure a snug fit below the bust area.

  5. Waist

    • How to measure: Measure around the narrowest part of your torso, typically around your natural waistline. Make sure it’s snug but not tight.

    • Why it’s important: This is a key measurement for most garments, especially dresses, skirts, pants, and shorts, ensuring that the garment fits comfortably around the waist.

  6. Below Waistline

    • How to measure: Measure just below your natural waistline, typically where you want the waistband of your pants, skirts, or shorts to sit.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is crucial for pants, skirts, and low-rise garments, ensuring the waistband fits where you prefer.

  7. Bust to Bust

    • How to measure: Measure the distance between one bust and the other, typically across the center of the chest.

    • Why it’s important: This helps with ensuring the proper fit for the chest area, especially in custom-tailored tops, blouses, or dresses.

  8. Blouse Length

    • How to measure: Measure from the top of your shoulder down to the desired blouse length, typically around the waist or slightly below.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement determines the overall length of a blouse or top, ensuring it hits the right point on your torso for the desired style.

  9. Sleeve Opening Circumference

    • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm or where the sleeve will end.

    • Why it’s important: This ensures that the sleeve fits comfortably around your arm without being too tight or loose, especially for short sleeves or 3/4 sleeves.

  10. Armhole

    • How to measure: Measure around the circumference of the armhole, just below the underarm.

    • Why it’s important: This ensures that the garment fits properly around the arm, allowing ease of movement without being too tight.

  11. Sleeve Length

    • How to measure: Measure from the shoulder seam down to the desired sleeve length, whether short, 3/4, or full sleeve.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is crucial to ensure that the sleeve length is just right for the style you desire, whether you want a short, mid-length, or long sleeve.

  12. Full Sleeve Opening Circumference

    • How to measure: Measure around your wrist (or where the sleeve ends for a full sleeve).

    • Why it’s important: This ensures that the sleeve has the right fit around your wrist, whether you prefer a snug or loose fit.

  13. Hip

    • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your hips.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is necessary for longer garments, like kurtas, chudidhars, or dresses that fall below the hip line, ensuring a comfortable fit around the hips.

  14. Thigh

    • How to measure: Measure around the fullest part of your thigh.

    • Why it’s important: This is essential for custom-fitting garments such as pants, skirts, trousers, or shorts, ensuring that they fit properly without being too tight around the thigh area.

  15. Pant Height

    • How to measure: Measure from or just below your waistline (depending on where you want the pant to sit) down to the ankle, or to the desired pant length.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is key to determine the correct pant length, whether for kurta pants, lehenga skirts, or regular trousers, ensuring the pants fit your preferred length.

  16. Front Neckline

    • How to measure: Measure from the middle of your collarbone to the point where you want the neckline to end.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement is crucial for both high and low necklines, ensuring that the garment's front neckline sits exactly where you want it.

  17. Back Neckline

    • How to measure: Measure from the middle of the back of your neck to the desired neckline point.

    • Why it’s important: This measurement helps determine the depth and shape of the back neckline for garments such as blouses, dresses, or kurtas, ensuring a comfortable and flattering fit.
